What is Seedance 2 Fast?
Seedance 2 Fast is the middle tier of ByteDance's Seedance 2 family, above Seedance 2 Mini and below Seedance 2.0. Like the rest of the family it accepts three kinds of input — text, a still image, or an existing video clip to work from — and it caps at 720p where the top tier reaches 1080p and beyond.
What shapes how people actually use it is where it sits on the ladder: cheap enough per second that a reshoot is not a decision, sharp enough that the result is worth keeping. That makes Fast the natural tier for iterating on a shot until the motion is right, as opposed to proving a prompt works at all.
When you are generating from scratch, it is the tier that renders the take you keep, once Mini has told you the prompt works.

When Fast is the right pick
Two situations, and they are different from each other. The first is working from footage: if you have a clip and want it restyled, extended or given a different look, this is where the rate drops hardest — handing Fast an existing clip runs about 40% under generating the same motion from text, at the same 720p. The second is a from-scratch shot you already understand — you found the prompt on Mini, the motion works, and Fast is where you render the take you keep. Most of these clips get watched at 720p, which is exactly where Fast tops out.
